Job Description

Senior Accountant – Public Accounting
Victoria, BC | $70,000 to $90,000 | Full-Time | On-Site with Flexibility

Our client is a respected and independently operated public accounting firm based in Victoria, known for its technical strength, approachable leadership, and positive, team-focused culture. They’re currently hiring a Senior Accountant to support their growing client base across tax and compilation engagements.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a few years of experience in public practice who wants to take on more ownership, gain exposure to tax planning work, and be part of a balanced and collaborative firm environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Prepare and review year-end working paper files and financial statements for compilation clients

  • File corporate and personal tax returns (T2s and T1s), with a focus on more complex scenarios

  • Help with tax planning calculations and reconciliation of corporate tax balances (CDA, RDTOH, GRIP)

  • Contribute to client advisory and support engagements on an as-needed basis

  • Maintain well-documented files that meet internal and professional standards

  • Collaborate with partners and managers, while mentoring junior staff as you grow

You’ll Thrive Here If You:

  • Have 3 to 5 years of public accounting experience and are confident handling files independently

  • Are currently working toward your CPA or have recently completed it (non-CPAs with strong experience are also welcome)

  • Know your way around personal and corporate tax returns and enjoy digging into reconciliation and file review

  • Understand how to manage your time, stay organized, and communicate proactively with clients and teammates

  • Are open to learning new systems and contributing to a friendly, team-based work culture

Nice to Have (But Not Required):

  • Familiarity with preparing T3 trust returns

  • Experience working with U.S. tax returns

  • Prior involvement in review engagements or financial statements under ASPE

What’s In It for You

  • Competitive salary between $70,000 and $90,000 , based on experience

  • Benefits program and RRSP matching

  • Extra time off during summer months and a flexible workweek

  • A strong culture of mentorship and continued learning

  • Team socials, professional development, and a balanced approach to busy season
