JOB SUMMARY:
The Counseling Director oversees the clinical and administrative functions of The Well Counseling Center. This role includes providing spiritual leadership, spearheading marketing and community outreach efforts, providing church staff development opportunities, supervising a team of contracted counselors, and planning the centers continual growth. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, a deep commitment to Christian values, and a passion for mental health.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Supervision and Development:
- Oversee the daily operations and clinical functions of The Well Counseling Center.
- Establish and maintain high standards of clinical excellence rooted in ethical, evidence-based, and faith-integrated practices.
- Lead onboarding, performance evaluations, and professional development pathways for new and future counseling team members.
- Cultivate a healthy team culture focused on collaboration, trust, and continuous learning.
Spiritual Leadership:
- Ensure all counseling practices align with Christian theology, values, and the mission of The Well and Generations Church.
- Serve as a spiritual leader for the counseling team, providing encouragement, biblical guidance, and pastoral support.
- Lead and model spiritual rhythms such as team devotionals, prayer times, and retreats to foster a Christ-centered work culture.
Marketing and Community Outreach:
- Help create and execute a strategic marketing plan to promote The Well Counseling Center.
- Build referral relationships with local pastors, churches, schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations.
- Represent The Well at church-wide events, local gatherings, and mental health awareness initiatives to raise visibility.
- Collaborate with Generations Church communications and creative teams to tell stories of transformation and promote services effectively.
Growth Planning:
- Identify needs in the congregation and community to inform future service offerings and staffing strategies.
- Set measurable goals for impact, reach, and quality of care; regularly evaluate progress and make data-informed adjustments.
- Cultivate a sustainable vision for growth that includes staffing, space, resources, and strategic partnerships.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage the budgeting, financial planning, and stewardship of resources for The Well Counseling Center.
- Establish and maintain policies and procedures that ensure legal, ethical, and clinical compliance with AACC guidelines and applicable state regulations.
- Oversee systems for documentation, case management, and reporting that support excellence in service delivery and data tracking.
- Coordinate scheduling, intake processes, and operational workflows to provide a smooth and professional client experience.
Staff Development:
- Equip and support Generations Church staff and ministry leaders with emotional, mental, and relational health tools.
- Encourage and guide church staff toward further professional development in counseling-related disciplines when appropriate.
DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- A growing and mature follower of Jesus Christ, with a lifestyle that reflects spiritual depth, humility, and a commitment to biblical truth.
- Degree and Certifications for Counseling required. Masters Degree is required.
- A minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in the mental health field, preferably in clinical, supervisory, or ministry-integrated settings.
- Strong working knowledge of clinical best practices, relevant psychological theories, and ethical standards (e.g., AACC Code of Ethics, state licensure requirements).
- A visionary and entrepreneurial mindset, with genuine passion for launching and shaping a counseling ministry from the ground up.
- Innovative and adaptable, with the ability to think creatively, take initiative, and navigate ambiguity during a season of growth and development.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, equip, and develop others both within the counseling team and across church ministries.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Emotionally resilient and spiritually grounded, with the capacity to work effectively under pressure, both independently and collaboratively, and to engage others with professionalism, care, and graceconsistent with the values of Generations Church.
