Position Overview

Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. (ACSI) is a multi-disciplined construction company offering superior civil, electrical and mechanical services including piping, insulation, scaffolding, and module fabrication. We’re always on the search for exceptional craft candidates to fill our ever-expanding project portfolios. We are focused on hiring only those exceptional individuals who value safety in the workplace and remain committed to the collective goal of maintaining our Aecon ‘zero injury’ culture.

ACSI is seeking Welder Journeypersons who will be integral to our project’s success. Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, this role requires in depth understanding of welding techniques and a strong commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW).

  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment.
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines.  
  • Join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment.
  • Journeyperson may mentor apprentices respectfully and oversee their safety.

Requirements and Experience

  • Valid Provincial Journeyperson Ticket or indentured in a Provincial apprenticeship program.
  • CWB, F4/F6 welding ticket and a minimum SCH 40.
  • CSTS-20 Certificate
  • Fall Protection – In Class
  • Mobile Elevated Work Platform – In Class
  • Experience as a Welder in an industrial construction environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments.
  • Must have a strong understanding of industrial safety procedures and policies.
  • Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal.

Project: Giant Mine Remeditaion Water Treatment Plant

Location: Yellowknife, NWT

Rate: $46.69 per hour

Overtime: as per collective agreement 

Schedule: 14/7, usually a Tuesday start, Monday travel day.

Camp: Yes

Allowances: Travel allowance and LOA available

Candidates may be required to complete a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screen and/or criminal record check.
