About the Team

The Research, Modeling, and Analysis (RMA) group in the Division of Supervision and Regulation at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Board) is looking for a talented individual to work in our group as a 2026 Summer Intern. The RMA group is part of the National Stress Testing Program (Program) that conducts the Dodd-Frank Stress Tests of large and systemically important banking organizations operating in the United States. The Program is responsible for developing models and scenarios for stress testing bank portfolios to assess capital adequacy in times of economic and financial market stress.

The RMA group supports the goals of the Program by conducting relevant academic research in the areas of banking, economics, and finance. We also support the Program by doing policy work, such as developing economic and statistical models to measure risk in the bank portfolios.

About the Role

The intern will contribute in both core areas of the team. In terms of research, an intern can expect to support an economist on a research project. In terms of policy work, an intern can expect to work on developing analytics and other monitoring tools to help the Program track emerging issues in the banking environment.

Upon successful completion of the program, an intern should:
  • Develop subject matter expertise in a core area of banking supervision, such as the bank revenue generating process, credit risk, or market risk. T
  • Become familiar with the research process, hone writing and analytical skills, and have the opportunity to interact with knowledgeable experts in the field.
  • Develop proficiency in R, Stata, SQL, and other analytical tools necessary for processing economic and financial data.

Suggested Major/Minors: Economics, Finance, or a related discipline
