Role: Security Architecture Consultant / Security Design Integrator

Title: VP

Location: Montreal, QC(Day 1 Onsite/Hybrid) – Fulltime

Mode of Work: 3 days/week onsite required

Required Experience: 10-15+ years

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct security architecture and design reviews across multiple business units and technology stacks.
• Collaborate with global teams (Technology, Business, and Risk) to assess applications, platforms, networks, and cloud environments.
• Review technical and functional design documents , validate control implementations, and document outcomes.
• Categorize assessments as: Permit to Operate, Closed (With/Without Risks), Denied, Denied with Risk Acceptance .

Core Skill Areas

1. Security Architecture & Assessment

• Deep knowledge of application, network, and platform security .
• Proven experience conducting IT security reviews, audits, or threat modeling .
• Ability to explain security vulnerabilities to developers and architects .
• Understanding of secure SDLC , security-by-design principles, and enterprise controls.
• Experience working with risk frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, OWASP, etc.).

2. Cloud & DevSecOps

• Expertise in AWS / Azure / GCP cloud security, including IAM, encryption, and network segmentation.
• Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines , security integration, and policy enforcement.
• Hands-on exposure to infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and container security (Kubernetes, Docker).

3. Identity & Access Management

• Strong knowledge of authentication and authorization frameworks:
• SAML, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, Kerberos, SiteMinder, LDAP, Active Directory.
• Understanding of entitlements , privilege escalation prevention , and least privilege models .

4. Cryptography & Data Protection

• Knowledge of encryption, hashing, key management, TLS/SSL , and secure data storage/transmission.
• Understanding of data loss prevention (DLP) and data classification controls.

5. Networking & Infrastructure Security

• Solid grasp of network architecture and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, proxies, firewalls, load balancers).
• Ability to review network topology and configurations for vulnerabilities and misconfigurations.

6. Application Security & Development Background

• Hands-on background in software engineering or application design (Java, Python, C#, C/C++, or JavaScript).
• Knowledge of web technologies: Web servers, APIs, REST, SOAP, headers, cookies, sessions.
• Understanding of common vulnerabilities (SQLi, XSS, CSRF, SSRF, insecure deserialization, etc.).
• Familiarity with SAST/DAST tools (Veracode, Fortify, AppScan, Burp Suite, WebInspect).

7. Soft Skills & Delivery Excellence

• Excellent written and verbal communication for translating technical risk into business terms.
• Ability to influence stakeholders through factual reasoning and risk-based prioritization.
• Strong time management — capable of handling multiple parallel assessments.
• Experience in executive presentation and documentation for security review outcomes.
• Proactive and delivery-focused under tight timelines and senior management visibility.

Preferred Industry & Certifications

• Prior experience in financial services or banking technology environments.
• Certifications (preferred but not mandatory):
• CISSP / CISM / CCSP
• AWS Certified Security – Specialty / Azure Security Engineer Associate
• GIAC (GSEC, GCSA, GDSA, GWAPT)
• CEH or OSCP (added advantage)
