Job Description

Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit in the healthcare space, is hiring a Program Consultant. This full-time, hybrid role focuses on leading updates to hospital data methodologies that inform national health system reporting and decision-making. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with hospital, clinical, and emergency data (e.g., acute and ambulatory classifications), and can translate complex information into actionable insights. In addition to technical expertise, this position requires proven leadership skills to oversee a small team (analysts and a coding specialist), manage program deliverables, and guide internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual maintenance and improvement of CMG+ and CACS methodologies.
  • Implement clinical and cost-effectiveness enhancements to case mix logic.
  • Guide and manage a cross-functional team, overseeing performance, priorities, and outputs.
  • Offer expert advice to internal teams, external partners, and government stakeholders.
  • Ensure all methodology changes align with product and healthcare system requirements.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, stakeholder presentations, and CIHI compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information, Statistics, Epidemiology, or related field; or a graduate of a recognized HIM program with CHIM certification.
  • 5+ years of experience working with hospital-based data and case mix grouping tools.
  • Experience in emergency-focused healthcare data, especially related to wait times, acute care, and ambulatory classifications.
  • Strong knowledge of health information standards (e.g., ICD-10-CA, ICD-11, CCI).
  • Familiarity with databases: DAD, NACRS, CMG+, and CACS.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, preferably with experience overseeing analysts and healthcare data staff.
  • Understanding of the Canadian healthcare system and hospital data flow.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
