Job Description

Position: Process Engineer

 

With two London locations totaling over 150,000 square feet with up to 40-ton overhead crane capacity, over 30 large modern CNC machines with 5 axis capabilities, and a 24-hour operation manned by expert and committed human capital. ADJ Industries Inc. is a leader in its industry. ADJ Industries Inc. specializes in custom fabrication, welding and machining. We manufacture large locomotive, oil and gas, power generation, mining and defense components to close tolerances.

 

 

Position Overview:

The Process Engineer, reporting to the VP of Manufacturing, works closely with Quality, Manufacturing and Production to support and improve manufacturing operations, including performing and documenting work instructions, processes, and quality documentation.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

· Support all phases of the manufacturing process for product being built, including: product quality, cost

improvements, on-time delivery, and product manufacturability.

· Analyze manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancement of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.

· Develop and implement process control techniques and procedures into manufacturing environments.

· Actively support manufacturing in any problems with equipment and processes.

· Identify improvement opportunities (reduce cost, eliminate wastes, improve cycle time and capacity, improve

production flow, reduce raw material consumption, etc.)

· Project management of improvement projects (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Inventory)

· Project management of transition projects (in sourcing, outsourcing, repositioning)

· Creating and issuing fully detailed manufacturing instructions including applicable metrology and inspection

plans.

· Responsible for contract review.

· Provide documentation support (manage change documentation system, work instructions, process flow charts)

as required by manufacturing.

· Performing Time and Motion studies and maintaining manufacturing Time Standards data.

· Specifying and sourcing machines, tooling, and setting tooling parameters (speed/feed).

· Investigation of non-conformance to determine root causes and develop and implement corrective action with

follow-up as required.

· Contributes to the development of work instructions, equipment logs, material specifications and other tracking

documents.

· Collaborating with configuration control and design engineering regarding product tooling and design to ensure

effective production methods.

· Conferring with vendors in determining product specifications and arranging equipment, parts, or material

purchases, and evaluating products according to quality standards and specifications.

· Liaises with Customers to ensure Production timelines, quality and engineering specifications are being met.

· Working closely with the manufacturing department to develop, coordinate and implement technical training for

employees.

· Creating and maintaining accurate documentation of tool drawings, design concepts, shop order, and concepts

in accordance with quality functions.

Administration:

· Maintains an acceptable level of performance by following established policies and procedures, and participating

in continuous improvement efforts by supporting and implementing new ideas.

· Sets a positive example by maintaining a respective attitude, cooperating with co-workers, management, and

internal and external customers.

· Be a productive team member and help to meet established departmental and Company goals.

· Wears appropriate personal protective equipment at all times when required

· Report any personal workplace injuries to direct supervisor immediately.

· Report safety issues to direct supervisor or EHS Manager as soon as possible.

· Report to work for your regularly scheduled shifts on time and ready to work.

· Follow all company policies and health and safety procedures.

· Effectively gives and receives feedback and willingly asks questions and seeks direction when needed.

· Willingly accepts responsibility of sharing skills and knowledge with other employees.

· Perform all other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

 

Qualifications:

· Must meet the requirements of the Canadian Controlled Goods Security Assessment Application as per Section

15 of the Controlled Goods Regulations, SOR/2001-32.

· Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or equivalent/ bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred

· 2+ years experience in working in the manufacturing or manufacturing technology field.

· Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills.

· Strong skills in manufacturing and processing engineering with knowledge of machining, welding, and

fabrication.
