Job Description

Major Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and passionate leader to join our team as Pastor of Family Ministries. This associate-level pastoral role focuses on discipling the next generation (children, youth, and young adults), while also equipping and encouraging parents to be the primary disciple-makers in their homes.

The Pastor of Family Ministries will provide strategic leadership and oversight for these ministries, working closely with existing teams to offer vision, encouragement, and support as we help the next generation find and follow Jesus.

Responsibilities:

  • Children & Youth Discipleship: Lead and oversee WBC’s existing children and youth ministry teams.
  • Young Adult Discipleship: Support and disciple young adults in their faith through leadership, teaching and mentoring.
  • Parent Support & Family Discipleship: Encourage and equip parents as the primary disciple-makers in their homes through teaching, training and resources.
  • Participate in occasional preaching and other teaching opportunities.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on giftings and ministry needs.

Qualifications:

1. Education and Experience:

  • Several years of church ministry experience preferred.
  • Seminary education or equivalent theological training preferred.

2. Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively on a team.
  • Ability to balance multiple ministry responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to teach and mentor, both one-on-one and in group settings.
  • Familiarity with and comfort in rural Canadian culture.

3. Character and Personal Qualities:

  • An active faith in Christ, aligned with the church’s beliefs and mission.
  • A deep commitment to Biblical values in both philosophy and practice of ministry.
  • A love for people and a shepherd’s heart.
  • A strong team player with a servant-hearted approach to leadership.

4. Other Requirements

  • Affirmation of the "WBC Family Commitment".
  • Completion of "Plan to Protect" training (for working with vulnerable individuals).

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time role with evening and weekend responsibilities.
  • This is an associate pastor position, reporting to the Co-Lead Pastoral Team.
