Job Description

Reporting to the Project Allocated HC Manager, the HSE Coordinator will assist the Health, Safety and Environmental team by visiting GIP project sites throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist in the development of site specific health and safety stats and trending analysis.
  • Update safety metrics and administer the Safety Incident Tracking database weekly.
  • Performs data entry to ensure quality on incident tracking systems, monitors and sets for approval, and creates reports.
  • Provide support and administrative assistance to the health and safety team.
  • Communicate information to employees regarding health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Prepare detailed statistical trend analysis and develop reports and presentations including the preparation of graphs and charts.
  • Responsible for communication on safety bulletin boards and developing other means of communication.
  • Attend, facilitate, and participate in weekly safety talks, monthly meetings, and audits.
  • Electronic filing to be done daily keeping up with all trackers to ensure the correct information is available to all members of the team.
  • Processing and finalizing incident reports to be completed in a timely matter.
  • Prepare weekly submittals to the Client/General Contractor.
  • Assist in safety audits, joint inspections and, if required, Ontario COR external audits.

Position Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in health and safety, or equivalent education and experience
  • 1-3 years experience as an administrative assistant or in a related role
  • 1-3 years construction experience in safety/environmental-related experience.
  • Comprehensive/working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and industry safety standards.
  • Strong computer proficiency including MS Office, power point, excel and computer databases.
  • Results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outcome focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyse and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business.
  • Ability to connect and interact with people to seek different perspectives.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Demonstrate versatility and resourcefulness in overcoming business challenges.
  • Previous experience in the construction/infrastructure industry is required
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle
