Exhibit Interpreter
(Full-time Contract)

The London Children’s Museum is looking for an Exhibit Interpreter to join our team! The ideal candidate will take a creative approach in helping to select, purchase, fabricate, and evaluate new interactive components to bring the museum’s new permanent galleries at 100 Kellogg Lane to life. The Exhibits Interpreter will also support the staff team in maintaining exhibits by developing guiding frameworks and organizing documents. Position: Full-time hourly contract; 37.5 hours per week from August 18, 2025 – March 24, 2026

Compensation: $18.00/hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, maintain and stock exhibits within permanent galleries. Ensure changes are accurately reflected in the shared Exhibit Guideline document.
  • Liaise with the Facilities Maintenance team to ensure exhibit components are functioning and galleries are kept clean and tidy.
  • Analyse exhibit evaluation data collected to date to help inform decision making regarding improvements and/or additions to exhibits and exhibit-based programming.
  • Research and lead prototyping of new exhibit consumables and interactive elements (ie. play furniture, building supplies, toys, etc.)
  • Coordinate ongoing Exhibit Evaluation Program members of the Visitor Experience team
  • Facilitate quality public programs including, star shows, fossil shows, and artifact interactions
  • Participate in weekly ongoing program planning

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in exhibit coordination, project management, or a similar role
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks, completing tasks within assigned timeframes
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills in applications including G-Suite, Microsoft products, and the web
  • Ability to engage in moderate physical activity on a daily basis
  • Experience with exhibit fabrication or in trades-based projects an asset

Education:

  • Post-secondary education in Museum Studies, Public History, Arts and Culture, Design, or a related field

Position Requirements:

  • Valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check required
  • Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment (August 18, 2025)
  • Registered in the Young Canada Works (YCW) online candidate inventory

(NOTE: Priority will be given to graduates that have not previously participated in YCW internship programs)

  • Willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment (August 18, 2025 – March 24, 2026)
  • Not have another full-time job during the YCW work assignment (30 hours/week)
