Job Description

Crane Supply is Canada's premier distributor of quality pipe, valves, fittings and piping accessories. Servicing Commercial, Industrial, Residential and Fire Protection contractors, along with Industrial Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) firms. The Director of Information Technology is responsible for connecting the IT department to the strategic needs of the business. The position plays a key strategic role in managing the people, budget, company-wide IT and strategic initiative projects and resources required to maintain, support and upgrade to new technical solutions to support the company's growth requirements. The position manages a team of dedicated IT professionals and is responsible for the delivery of innovative solutions to improve the way in which we serve the customer and analyze our business.

TECHNICAL SERVICES

  • Provide the necessary leadership for the administration of facility security and surveillance implementations, Mobile devices, Phone Systems, IT related purchases, facility network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, access points, VPN, etc.), IT software, systems, and printers.
  • Provide strategy and vision for in-house software development supporting CRM, ERP, E-Commerce as well as applications for Finance, Procurement and Human Resources.
  • Ensure systems, processes and resources are in place to provide support to End Users via IT Helpdesk.
  • Oversee strategies to enhance technical operations throughout the business, including documentation in relation to system functionalities and internal software programs, technical enhancements, security regulations and privacy laws.
  • Oversee the administration of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) technology and peripherals.
  • Ensure stable operations in all facets of information, communication, security and operations technology.
  • Participate in all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts.

BUSINESS ANALYSIS

  • Analyze complex business needs and recommends technical solutions in all business areas, including E-Commerce applications.
  • Consistently enhance and maintain existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions, in line with corporate standards.
  • Develop and coordinate approval of all business requirements prior to the technical solution.
  • Perform liaison duties between users, operations, and programming personnel in the areas of systems design, modifications or trouble shooting.
  • Represents the IT function at customer review meeting when appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • In-person collaboration required on a full-time basis. Work from home and/or hybrid work arrangements are not available.
  • Applicable undergraduate degree as well as 3 years of experience operating at the top level of the organization with a revenue stream over $350M.
  • Solid understanding of application programming, web development, e-commerce, networks, security and telecommunications.
  • Envision software development needs for the business and manage projects from initial design through to testing and launch while providing strategic management direction.
  • Lead the programming team through the stages of analysis, design, development, enhancement and launch.
  • Periodic travel across Canada required.
