POSITION PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Director(s) of Dental Services and the Dental Manager, performs chairside work assisting a denturist in the treatment of patients; maintains records of treatments, supplies, and materials; performs related work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains proper infection control procedures; wears required personal protection equipment as per OSHA standards; sterilizes dental instruments and equipment.
  • Prepares patients for treatment by seating, taking blood pressures, and reviewing medical history; presents and witnesses signatures on all appropriate consent forms.
  • Explains the treatment process to the patient.
  • Reviews patient chart and ensures all paperwork, x-rays and treatment are current.
  • Ensures the treatment room and area is properly set up for the next patient.
  • Cleans and disinfects all laboratory areas, all dental instruments and equipment to include thorough knowledge of current practices of infection control as directed by OSHA, CDC, and ADA requirements.
  • Performs routine laboratory work such as pouring and trimming working models; packaging and shipping models to appropriate lab; receives and organizes lab cases/slips as they are delivered.
  • Keeps current with software specific for electronic dental records, provides accurate documentation by charting each patients oral health, treatment plan, and chart notes; ensures that consent forms are signed by all persons required, report any missing information in chart to supervisor or appropriate staff member.
  • Attends in-service and other required meetings.
  • Fabricates acrylic custom trays and acrylic baseplates with occlusal rims for bite registrations.
  • Pours impressions, trims models, and labels lab cases; assists with lab repairs and relines.
  • Maintains lab equipment according to manufacturers instructions and schedules.
  • Assists in Dental Lab as needed.
  • Assists other employees as needed and instructed.
  • Follows Aviva Health policies and procedures and completes assigned tasks promptly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Strictly adheres to the ethics and Code of Conduct as established by the ADA, Oregon State Board of Dental Examiners, and Aviva Health.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent education.
  • Dental experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to maintain and interpret various records relating to patient care and dental services.
  • Demonstrated motivation to learn and ability to retain training; ability to learn lab-related duties.
  • Must be able to maintain a sympathetic and harmonious relationship with patients and other staff.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, desire to serve others, and a positive mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to work in a team, adaptability, ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner, and ability to self-manage.
