Job Description

The Japan Rabbit Buyer Team plays a key role in helping customers around the world purchase items from Japan with confidence, accuracy, and ease.

As a Buyer, you are at the center of the purchasing process, ensuring that customers' orders are handled accurately, efficiently, and with great attention to detail. You will work closely with Japanese vendors, bilingual internal teams, and English-speaking customers to turn purchase requests into successful orders that meet (and exceed) customer expectations.This is a highly detail-oriented role that requires excellent communication skills across multiple stakeholders.

You will communicate with vendors in Japanese, collaborate with internal teams in both Japanese and English, and support customers in English to provide clear updates, resolve issues, and manage expectations throughout the buying process.

Buyers are self-starters who take full ownership of their work. You are responsible for confirming item details, pricing, availability, and conditions, while proactively identifying and resolving potential issues before they impact the customer experience. Meeting buyer expectations—through accuracy, transparency, and reliability—is at the heart of this role.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide timely, accurate handling of customer requests, payment capture, vendor purchasing.

  • Deliver superlative customer support, coordinating with other team members to ensure positive customer outcomes.

  • Monitor and follow up on pending customer orders and store communication.

  • Assist with fulfillment, bookkeeping, and other related data entry tasks.

  • Maintain accurate financial records of purchases and refunds

  • Advocate for your users and collaborate closely with Engineering, Fulfillment, and Marketing teams as a product expert and end-user champion.

  • Engage in continuous professional development, including enhancing customer service abilities, language skills, and other pertinent job skills.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Customer support experience.

  • Experience working at early- or growth-stage startups.

  • Experience in eCommerce

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal

  • Japanese language proficiency at N2 level or higher

Work Environment:

  • Location: Fully remote (based outside Japan)

Time Zone: 

  • Candidates should be willing to work within time zones between North/South America and Europe
