POSITION OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and driven attorney to join our team, someone who brings strong analytical skills, values collaboration, and consistently strives for excellence. In this role, you’ll work alongside dedicated professionals who care deeply about fostering a positive team dynamic and delivering high-quality legal services.

You’ll receive comprehensive training and clear guidance while being expected to carry out assignments with professionalism, accuracy, and accountability. The position touches on all phases of the secured lending legal process, including civil litigation, title disputes, and potential bankruptcy cases.

You’ll be responsible for preparing legal pleadings and discovery documents, maintaining proactive and professional communication with clients, engaging with courts and opposing counsel, and appearing at depositions and hearings prepared and poised.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Bring a professional demeanor and positive attitude to every interaction.
  • Conduct initial case analysis and formulate strategy and budgeting plans within 24 hours of file intake.
  • Draft and review litigation documents, including discovery requests/responses, motions, and client communications.
  • Review foreclosure records, title documentation, and legal pleadings; respond to inquiries from lenders and agents.
  • Manage shifting priorities and adapt quickly to changing daily demands.
  • Represent clients in court across Oregon (and Washington, if licensed); provide same-day updates post-appearance.
  • Offer guidance to staff in a friendly and constructive manner.
  • Draft, review, and revise legal opinions, compliance documentation, reports, and articles.
  • Take on other legal and administrative tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school required.
  • Active, good-standing membership with the Oregon State Bar; preference for dual licensure in Washington.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in mortgage or financial services law is strongly preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of federal, state, and local laws; ability to analyze case law and offer sound legal recommendations.
  • Professional demeanor and strong public-facing communication skills required.

  • Self-starter with excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, resolve issues promptly, and escalate when appropriate.
  • Skilled in fostering teamwork and maintaining respectful, effective communication across teams and clients.
  • Adaptable to fast-paced, high-growth environments with evolving responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit, speak, and listen for extended periods.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, or lift items up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual acuity for close work and screen time is necessary.
