Alpha Ministry Coordinator

Denomination: Christian and Missionary Alliance
Church Size: 1500 +
Position Status: Part Time, 20 Hours/Week
Reports to: Adult Discipleship Director: Life Groups & Alpha
Works closely with: Discipleship Ministry

Position Summary: 

The primary objective of the Alpha Ministry Coordinator is to provide opportunities for discipleship, evangelism and leadership development through the Alpha Ministry. This person will collaborate with the Adult Discipleship Director to run the Alpha Course by providing guidance to the lead team and coaches, organizing the Alpha Weekend Away, and providing administrative support as-needed. 

The compensation for this part-time position is based on experience, with an hourly rate ranging from $20 to $23 dollars an hour. This role includes a mix of weekday in-office hours, with required availability on Wednesday evenings during Alpha Course sessions, as well as occasional weekend commitments.

Candidate Profile

• Skills and Qualifications:
• Strong interpersonal, relational, and leadership skills
• Proven ability to excel both independently and collaboratively within dynamic team environments
• Adept at managing multiple priorities while maintaining organization and keen attention to detail
• Reliable, self-motivated, and proactive, consistently delivering strong administrative support
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• Prior experience in volunteer leadership
• Event planning or coordination experience is an asset
• Post-secondary degree or diploma preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

Facilitate the Alpha Course

• Work with the Adult Discipleship Director to plan, organize, and facilitate the Alpha course, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and effective post-course wrap-up 
• Support in planning and leading meetings with the Alpha Lead and Coach team before, during and after the course 
• Actively support the Alpha Ministry to ensure its program reflects and advances the vision and mission of Bayview Glen Church 

Support the Alpha Lead Team and Coaches

• Provide leadership and spiritual care to the Alpha Lead Team and Coaches
• Work with the Lead Team and Coaches to recruit, equip and mobilize volunteers according to Bayview Glen Church’s multi-layered leadership structure
• Support opportunities for Leadership Development within Alpha

Plan and Support the Weekend Away

• Organize and oversee all aspects of the Alpha Weekend Away, including logistics, accommodations, programming and resource management within budget guidelines

Administrative Support

• Provide administrative support for the Alpha ministry, such as handling inquiries, scheduling, calendars, finances, and resource management
• Provide consistent and timely communication between staff, Alpha Canada, volunteers and guests 
• Track metrics for engagement and growth 
• Other duties as assigned
