Job Description

Accounts Receivable and Tax Clerk Location Sechelt, BC :

The Position

Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the A/R and Tax Clerk is responsible for handling the required accounts receivable requirements of the Finance department within the Shishalh Nation. You will be helping the finance team with everything relating to account receivables; from generating and sending invoices to our suppliers, processing payments, reconciling transactions and maintaining accurate records.

The Finance Department is seeking a calm and composed individual to work in an auxiliary capacity with the shishalh Nation Government District supporting taxation requirements. The ideal candidate will have the knowledge, skills, and ability to assist in the day-to-day processing of property tax and utility collections.

The Candidate

  • Generate and send invoices to suppliers and members of the municipality.
  • Process invoices and payments.
  • Reconcile transactions and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor client accounts for non-payment and follow up as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities and financial reporting.
  • Provide support to the finance team as needed.
  • Providing information concerning by-laws and departmental rules and regulations to the public.
  • Maintaining standard office records and ensuring collection of taxes.
  • Receiving and checking a variety of materials for arithmetical accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • 3+ years' experience in account receivables (client invoicing, collections, reconciliations, etc.).
  • Ability to remain level-headed and professional in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Attention to details, organized, and is a creative problem solver.
  • Experience working in a Municipality is considered an asset.
  • Proven prioritization, time management and effective written and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to build a positive, team-oriented environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean Criminal Record Check.
