This Tokyo-based robotics company, founded in 2004, originated as a spin-off from a leading Japanese technical university. It specializes in developing advanced robotic systems designed for the inspection and maintenance of critical infrastructure such as petrochemical plants, power plants, aircraft, and transmission lines. These robots are often snake-like or spider-like in design, enabling them to navigate narrow or hazardous environments that are difficult or dangerous for humans to access.

The Role

• The company is seeking a skilled and motivated Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations and lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
• This role will serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and play a key role in supporting the CFO on financial strategy, tax compliance, budgeting, and process enhancements.
• Depending on your experience and performance, there is potential to step into a department head role within the first year.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings in compliance with J-GAAP and IFRS
• Prepare and review accurate financial statements and reports
• Coordinate audit processes and act as the main point of contact for external auditors
• Supervise and mentor members of the accounting team
• Analyze financial performance and contribute to strategic business planning
• Maintain and enhance internal controls and ensure proper documentation of accounting procedures
• Oversee tax filings in collaboration with external tax advisors
• Support the budgeting process and conduct variance analysis
• Manage accounting and tax matters for overseas subsidiaries (e.g., U.S. and Germany)
• Drive improvements in ERP and cloud-based accounting systems (e.g., Money Forward)
• Provide strategic and operational support to the CFO
• Strengthen internal controls in preparation for IPO readiness
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and disclosure requirements
• Assist with consolidated financial reporting and group-level accounting activities
